Sleep Clarity
By default, Sleep Clarity keeps everything — your alarms, dream journal, sleep reports, and audio recordings — exclusively on your iPhone. The only exceptions are two optional features you choose to use: AI dream retelling and the Lumen learning program, both described below. Nothing else is ever collected or transmitted.
When you tap Retell on a dream, the text of that dream is sent securely over HTTPS to our own server, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude AI and returns the response. This only happens for the specific dream you choose to process — dreams you don't run through AI never leave your iPhone. The dream text is used only to generate that single response and is not stored on our server or used to train any AI model. The request is tagged with a random device identifier for rate-limiting only, never your name, email, or Apple ID.
Lumen is our wake-up intelligence. It always personalizes your wake-up privately on your iPhone. You may additionally opt in (Profile → Lumen → Help improve Lumen, off by default) to anonymously share your sleep metrics and morning ratings through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) so Lumen can improve for everyone. Shared data is tagged with a random identifier and never includes your name, email, location, or any audio. You can turn it off at any time, which stops all sharing immediately.
When you enable Sleep Analysis, the app uses your iPhone's microphone to detect sounds while you sleep. These recordings are processed entirely on-device and saved locally. Sleep Clarity cannot access your microphone without your explicit permission, which you grant through iOS Settings. You can revoke it at any time.
Sleep Clarity uses Sign in with Apple so your subscription stays tied to your account. We receive only a stable, anonymous identifier from Apple — never your password. You may optionally share your name, which is used only to greet you in the app. We do not receive your email unless you choose to share it.
Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. Apple handles all billing, renewals, and cancellations, which you manage in your Apple ID settings.
We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking libraries. We do not know how you use the app, how often you open it, or what features you use.
We never sell, rent, or transfer your data to advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies — ever. The only data that ever leaves your device is the dream text you choose to run through AI retelling and the anonymous Lumen learning data, both described above. Your data is never used for advertising.
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your alarms, dreams, and sleep history from your iPhone and signs you out. Deleting the app also removes all locally stored data. If you opted into Lumen learning, the anonymous nights you shared cannot be traced back to you, but you can stop all future sharing instantly by turning the option off.
